A raid on Vardhaman Pharma by officials of the Arunachal Pradesh Drug Control Administration (DCA) has revealed illegal drug manufacturing activities. The licence of the company had expired in 2009, but manufacturing was still being carried out.

DCAs of all the north-eastern States have been alerted to the possibility of spurious drugs from the Kala-Amb-based firm being in circulation.

The Deputy Drug Controller of the Central Drugs Standard Control Office has also been informed of the situation.

Investigations revealed that spurious drugs supplied by Vardhman Pharma had been procured as part of Government supply.

The enquiry also threw up the names of two fictitious companies – Aims International and Saibliss Pharma, both supposedly based in Himachal Pradesh.
