A seven member delegation from Uzbekistan headed by Mr. Jahongir Sarimsokov, Chairman of the Federation of Societies on Consumer Rights Protection of Uzbekistan (FSCRPU) visited Consumers Association of India between February 23 – 25 2016.

The purpose of the delegation’s visit was to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with CAI to promote and strengthen cooperation between the two organizations in the field of consumer protection, based on quality, respect and mutual interest. The MOU was signed on February 23rd between Mr. Jahongir Sarimsokov and Ms. Nirmala Desikan, Chairman and Managing Trustee, CAI.

It was agreed that both organizations will endeavour to create conditions to facilitate exchange of information:

1. On the national and international legislation governing relations in the field of consumer protection,

2. On the practical experience of law enforcement to preserve the respective rights of citizens,

3. On international public events like conferences and seminars on the protection of consumer rights, and

4. International experience in protection of consumer rights.

As part of the MOU, CAI conducted 3 day training for the delegation. The Federation of Societies is represented by 195 districts covering more than 4.7 lakh members. The 7 member delegation consisted of Chairman, FSCRPU, Chief Specialist on International Relations, FSCRPU along with members from Surkhandarya Regional Association, Denau District Association, Ferghana Regional Association, Toshloq District Association and Tashkent City Association of Societies.
