CONCERT Trust’s Proposal “ To Empower Rural Consumer Choice” through label information on food, water and medicine, was accepted by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.

The progamme is to be conducted at 30 places in 10 districts. Started at Trichy in August 2016, one day training is given to students, coming from rural area and studying in college, Self Help Groups and consumer activists, etc., numbering 100. This training covered topics like labels, water testing and healthcare at Trichy town, Manachanallur and Thottiam.

The next district where the programme was held, was Kanyakumari.Nagercoil, Kanyakumari and Kurusadi were the towns in which the training was conducted.

At all the places more than 100 persons participated in the training and their feedback pointed out that the messages went well with them. Coverage in print and electronic media was effective as all the regional language press and papers like The Hindu brought out news on the programme.

While the collector inaugurated the programme at Thottiam in Trichy, it was the turn of DRO at Kanyakumari District (Kurusadi)
