Telecom companies have got a shot in the arm with the Supreme Court quashing the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) rule that service providers have to compensate customers for call drops.

A Supreme Court bench found the rule penalizing telecom companies “arbitrary, illegal and unreasonable.”

The Judges felt that the rule had been framed without due thought and consultations with all stakeholders.
