Kungumam Doctor recorded an interview with Mr.M.R.Krishnaan in the last week of November 2016, and published an article titled “Whether the Government, has no powers to control hospitals”.

It was conveyed on our behalf that the Clinical Establishment Act 2010 was established with an objective to bring safe and quality health care to all the citizens by Government of India.

The Central Act which has been implemented in Sikkim, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Assam, Jharkhand, Rajasthan,

Lakshawdeep, Andaman, Pondicherry etc., is yet to be implemented in Tamilnadu.

The RTI request sent by Consumers Association of India received a flak from the Government stating that the government has no powers to interfere into the affairs of clinical establishments.

The Madras High Court has observed that the introduction of this Act in Tamilnadu is to be condemned.

The salient features of the Act were explained and the effects of the Act if implemented were outlined.
