Ford India is recalling a total of 16,444 units of its compact SUV EcoSport to sort out a potential problem with a part of the suspension.

The cars at risk were manufactured between November 2013 and April 2014.

A company statement said there is a possibility that the rear twist beam bolt in the vehicles may not have been tightened to specification, and this might cause the pivot bolt to break, creating the risk of an accident.

Ford India is writing to EcoSport customers and asking them to get their vehicles inspected at a local Ford dealer. If repairs are needed, they will be done free of cost, the company added.

If needed, Ford dealership will carry out necessary rework free of cost, it said.Previously, Ford India had recalled also 1,66,021 units of its Figo and Fiesta Classic models in September 2013 to rectify faulty rear twist beam and the power steering hose.
