Hyderabad, Sept 2015: The Andhra Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redress Commission (CDRC) has directed the Krishna District Consumer Forum to accept cases pertaining to counterfeit notes and their disbursal through ATMs.

The CDRC President Justice Naushad Ali also asked banks to take steps necessary, including deployment of appropriate technology, to check the counterfeit currency notes from being circulated.

Talking of the scope of consumer courts, he said “a lot of cases pertaining to food adulteration, health, agriculture and real estate are being reported in Krishna district. Consumers should avail the services offered by the Forum”.

Justice Ali said the increase in the number of people seeking legal recourse for the poor quality of services in hospitals pointed to increasing awareness of consumer rights.
