New Delhi, July 2016: The National green Tribunal (NGT) has said that diesel vehicles older than 15 years which are plying in the national capital have to be de-registered.

The move is a bid to ease the heavy pollution which has been enveloping the city and adjoining areas, and causing concern to environmentalists and health professionals.

The NGT has, however, clarified that vehicles which have national permit but come under its latest directives can bypass Delhi.

The authorities have been directed to also take immediate steps to improve the mass transport system. All buses should be either CNG or electricity powered, the NGT has mandated.
